My wife, Jolene, and I had the pleasure of hosting our first J. Lohr Wine Cruise back in 2012, when we joined with 36 friends on an unforgettable cruise along the Rhine.
As we basked in the leisurely elegance of a European river cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, many friendships and memories were made. Jolene and I had such a great time that we came back in 2014 to host our cruise along Portugal and Spain’s beautiful Douro River—this time joined by 70 friends, many of them longtime J. Lohr Wine Club members. As we visited Coimbra, Porto, Guimarães and Salamanca, I felt very fortunate to be in the company of so many wonderful people. And of course, it was a pleasure for me to share our wines, go out on daily excursions, and lead private tastings.
For our 2016 J. Lohr Wine Cruise, we are traveling to the world’s most storied winegrowing region: the historic estates and hallowed vineyards of legendary Bordeaux. For lovers of great Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Sauternes, a trip to Bordeaux is like a pilgrimage, and there isn’t a more serene and enjoyable way to experience it than on a Uniworld river cruise.
I cordially invite you to join Jolene and me, along with my son, Lawrence, and his wife, Emily, on this unforgettable trip. Not only will we enjoy the beauty of three stunning rivers—the Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde—we’ll go on numerous day excursions, eat delicious local gourmet fare, delve deeply into the Bordeaux region’s exalted wines, taste lovely Médoc vintages, visit the cellars of a Premier Grand Cru, and embark upon a fascinating study of Sauternes, all while traveling to such destinations as Pauillac, the Gironde Estuary, Bergerac and Saint-Emilion.
I hope to see you aboard the River Royale!
Very best wishes,
